BMW released a beautiful plug-in hybrid vehicle this year. It’s only just arrived in US showrooms and is a lovely addition to the regular BMW 7 Series. The 2017 BMW 740e iPerformance is one of two hybrid 7 serie models. The other plug-in hybrid BMW model is the 740LE, which is a longer version of the 740e and comes with optional BMW xDrive all wheel drive. The BMW 740e is expected to do well in Europe. In spirit of eco-friendliness…
The 7 series is a luxury model line by BMW Automobiles and was first introduced in 1977. From the start it was a vehicle in the higher price ranges and is consequently only in its sixth generation. The lower sales number and the modernistic approach to driving features that come with higher priced cars are one of the reasons the 7 series don’t often get a grand revamping.
The current sixth generation of this car offers a wide range of engines, including diesel ones. The gasoline engines come in a V8 and even a V12 lay-out, which is quite unusual for regular mass-production autos.
Since 2016, the 7 series is also available as a plug-in hybrid. It was especially designed for the growing demand of premium eco-friendly vehicles in Europe.
Finally, BMW’s range-topping model series makes use of EffientDynamics technology, developed to bring down CO2 emissions and increase driving dynamics. BMW actively pursues emissionless driving with their EfficientDynamics program.
