When it comes to Honda we know they have several cars doing pretty well within the worldwide automotive industry if we focus on sales. In the United States there are currently 3 cars in the top 10 sales; the Honda CR-V, the Honda Civic and the Honda Accord. These three models are good for 718,623 sales within the US (year to date) and Honda will probably reach the magical 1 million milestone at the end of this year. The future car release of the 2017 Honda Avancier is what we are waiting for. It was recently revealed at the 2016 Beijing Auto Show. We may consider this elegant SUV as Honda’s future flagship within the SUV market. It seems to become a sleek, spacious car with a decent 2.0L turbocharged engine.
What we can say about the exterior of the 2017 Honda Avancier is that at the first sight it seems to have some similarities with their current top-selling model 2016 Honda CR-V. Their LED headlights and sportive looking grille were potentially inspired by that vehicle.
The wheel arches and lower part of the car’s exterior are wider than the upper part of the side of the car. This creates a hefty look and adds to the toughness of the 2017 Honda Avancier.
The back of the car looks very good. Starting at the top the Avancier has a short overhang that roofs the steep diagonal rear window. When the window flows into the trunk lid, the line continues vertically down. The taillights are positioned partly on the body and partly on the trunk lid. Shaped like small red and white clips, the taillights are attached to the chrome bar on the trunk lid. There is a rectangular exhaust on either side of the car, with a large, silver insert place in between.
The interior design is fine as can be. On the pictures we find leather seats and a lovely dashboard that flows nicely into the sides of the car. It’s also very clean and devoid of excess buttons, which accounts for a soothing driving experience. Especially so when having the standard air conditioning blowing a cool breeze through the cabin.
The 2017 Honda Avancier sports analog gauges with a 6 inch TFT display in between them. Look for personalized driving information on there. Furthermore, another digital screen for infotainment can be found on the center console and is quite large.
The Avancier comes with a panoramic roof and heated and ventilated seats.
As far as we know the 2017 Honda Avancier will be powered by a turbocharged 2.0L 4-cylinder “Sport Turbo” engine. Some sources claim Honda will use a naturally aspirated 2.4 liter engine. Besides that one, a probable possibility is the presentation of a hybrid version as well. However, the hybrid won’t be as sustainable as the upcoming Honda Clarity, a hydrogen fuel cell vehicle, but still worth it. The Clarity will have a range of about 434 miles (700 km) and it can be filled in approximately 3 minutes.
Seeing the interior luxury, we expect a LOT from the 2017 Honda Avancier’s tech department. One thing we know is that the Avancier will come equipped with the Honda SENSING suite of safety features. Lane Keeping Assist, active cruise control, Rear Parking Assist and Collision Avoidance with Steering Assist. Besides this, we expect smartphone controlled functions, navigation, WIFI connectivity and surfing possibilities on the infotainment screen (weather, traffic etc.)
Price, release and sale date
First it will go on sale within the Chinese market in late 2016 and even perhaps early 2017. It’s hard to tell yet if it will hit the US and European market and when.
